Description
The K&N 69-9506TTK Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some MK7 GTI and Golf models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range.
The 69-9506TTK air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the original air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s turbo inlet for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive textured black powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory vacuum hose and secondary air hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions.
This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, ratchet set and some wrenches.

Typhoon on a GTI
Wanted that wonderful "whoosh" you hear when going open throttle. Surprised that there is very little sound difference from stock intake box. No noticeable improvement to throttle response and, so far, no noticeable improvement in fuel mileage (not that any was expected). Installation was pretty straight-forward. No surprises but it did take a little longer than expected (2 or so hours). Looks good!

This intake is great. Everything came in the kit came as expected and arrived in 4 days. Quality is good, I like the powder coat black paint and red filter which matches the paint. My gas mileage has improved and it sounds amazing. I don’t have a dyno to prove that the hp gain is there, but the overall driving experience (especially throttle response) has improved. My only complaint is that the pictures in the install instructions are poor quality.

Love it on my S3
Perfect fit and took about an hour to install. Didn't feel any major performance increase on my 2018 S3, but throttle and turbo response is definitely improved. Highly recommend!

Why i didnt give 5stars
Instructions that it comes with could be so much more clear. Installation took much longer due to this being an issue. Had to do slight modifications to the hardware it came with to make it fit on my 2016 audi s3. Besides all of that. The intake is awesome. I cant get enough of the turbo noises i get now!

Instructions could have been a little clearer for different variants of my vehicle. Otherwise the installation was pretty easy. Intake sounds great and had the unexpected pleasure of hearing the diverter valve do its thing. The engine in my car seems to breath a little easier now. It’s been a week and I’m happy with this intake so far.

Good quality cold air intake, only issue I had was the threads for the vac. point and heat shield mounting point were rough and needed to be chased and cleaned up before I could thread anything into it. Pretty straight forward, and easy to put in.

Overall I’m very satisfied with the intake. The install was a little bit longer than the 90 minutes stayed and the directions were a little vague but it wasn’t a,”pull my hair out” experience
You may not get gobs of power, but it sure as heck sounds a lot better! -

This did wonders for my blow off valve, And turbo sounds. I can feel a little more throttle response, acceleration and Fits snug. I'd recommend it to anyone!
