Description

APR has been a well established name in the tuning industry for quite some time. What better way to pair the quality of the APR MK7 GTI ECU tune than with APR's premium MK7 GTI catback exhaust available for the 2015-2017 model years.

Beautifully hand crafted out of T304 stainless steel, offers a cast 3" to dual 2.5" rear splitter and TIG welded throughout it is not only a work of art but adds that power. Wrestling with an exhaust to get on is no fun so APR made sure to finish this off with satin mufflers that are configurable to your placement desire. This APR MK7 catback system delivers a deep growl, without adding any restrictions or the dreaded rasp/drone.

All APR exhausts come with high quality brackets and OEM style clamps to ensure your system stays in place.

System Overview

The APR MK7 GTI catback exhaust uses larger piping over factory but still weighs in at 5 lbs less and 1 lb less with the optional front muffler. Using the 3" OD piping that than splits to 2.5" design this is an improvement over the 2.56" splitting to 2.36" the factory setup offers. Finishing off the APR catback are 4" exhaust tips which dwarf those tiny littler stockers.

Mufflers

When it comes to the sound of your exhaust this is where mufflers come into play. Proper muffler design not only has to fine tune that exhaust note in your MK7 GTI but make sure it does not add any unnecessary restriction to the system. Each unit in the APR MK7 GTI catback features a straight through design which is tightly wrapped with stainless steel and fiberglass material. Finished off with beautiful satin making these the perfect option for your VW,.

Standard with the APR catback is a single muffler setup but there is the option of adding their front triangular muffler at any time for that added resonance. Adding the additional resonator may be for those looking to tone it down after they add a performance MK7 GTI downpipe to their car.

Axle-Back Components

APR went with the cast axle back splitter to maximize the systems performance by keeping that exhaust velocity high but back pressure low. How does this happen? Gradually splitting the system from a single 3" to dual 2.5" pipes with organic transitions.

Brackets

Each APR catback system features brackets that are strong and offer precise fitment every time. No need to worry about sagging brackets that lose shape over time. These are rigid and stay in place.

Tubing

APR did not cheap out when it came to material of their MK7 GTI catback exhaust. They went with high quality T304 stainless steel throughout. And to add even further confidence in quality they brush and deburr all piping and of course argon back purge TIG weld every system.

Tips

Completely removable Satin finished 4" slash cut exhaust tips finish off this 2015-2017 APR GTI catback exhaust. Giving your VW that motorsports inspired look that blends perfectly with the factory valance. And of course when you run APR performance products you want to show it off so each tip is laser etches with a small and discreet APR logo.

Clamps

Staying on the car is key especially when you are hitting the track with your MK7 GTI. APR catbacks utilize T304 stainless Torca AccuSeal clamps for the exhaust tips. And no more fighting to install an exhaust yourself as APR has designed each clamp point with the installer in mind. Each connection point is placed to ensure there is minimal opportunity for it to rotate after install and driving under heavy load.

Downpipe Compatibility

APR has designed each system to be 100% bolt on with the factory exhaust as well as work with the APR MK7 GTI downpipe. No cutting, welding or anything else. Bolt up and go!

  • Best cat-back for the money

I tried several cat-back systems with the stock down pipe on my '17 GTI, all of which were less expensive that this one, and I would suggest you don't waste your money and just get the APR. The others were either too loud, too high pitched, or (surprisingly) not loud enough. I found the install of this system to be easier than the others due to the higher quality clamps APR provides. Centering the tips was easier due to the 1-piece rear section. I got the optional black tips, and they look better for a longer time between washes than the others. And finally the tone is deeper and just loud enough in all situations that you hear it, but it isn't over bearing. I wish I had just bought this system when I first started shopping for a slight-to-moderately more sporty and aggressive sound for my car because it would have saved me a bunch of time, money, and sweat.

  • A bit overpriced for what it is. Sounds good but think there are better options.

  • Pricey but worth it! Not too loud

As you all know, APRs products are usually more expensive than their competition, however I think that is with good reason - RESEARCH & QUALITY.... you get what you pay for.

Also, I was worried about the noise because I already had the APR DP + FMIC, and my wife always complains about exhausts being too noisy but honestly its not that loud and it doesn't seem to bother her that much. The CBE just gives it a nice deep rumble adding some bass. The additional resonator is not necessary at all.
