Description

The CTS Turbo FMIC Kit for the VW MKIV 1.8T (Golf/GTI/Jetta) is an excellent upgrade for any stock or modified cars. This kit provides significant cooling improvement compared to the competition, and substantial cooling benefits over the factory setup.  Improvements can be attributed to the high density intercooler core, and cast aluminium end tanks.  Each pipe in this kit has been "bead rolled" so you don't have to worry about your boost tubes blowing off or leaking.  

If that wasn't enough for you, this kit also uses BLACK aliuminum piping, 4ply silicon couplers and stainless steel T-Bolt clamps. This intercooler uses cast aluminum end tanks and a high density pressure tested core.

Notes

  • See the picture above for the proper installation of MAP sensor o-ring (for late MK4 models). Make sure to keep the factory o-ring (green) and install the supplied sealing o-ring over it.
  • Sensor not included in the kit.
  • Impact or Crash bar needs to be trimmed for installation of Intercooler core

  • Awesome product!

    The CTS Turbo front mount intercooler is great! A little bit of modifications to your OEM bash bar and some finagling with the piping and you’ve got a great product. I could feel the response much quicker from the first drive after installation! Definitely a must for upgrading your VW!

  • Quality components but CTS Turbo is not end user focused

    This kit has quality parts but was delivered with no instructions. It took me about 11 hours total over three days to complete the install. I did lot of trimming to the couplers (multiple times)as well as twisting or manipulating the piping to create the best angles for a smooth flow. I was left with a 45 degree coupler that was not needed. Adding about 1 1/2 inches of flat aluminum to the existing intercooler mounts lower the core, minimizes how much is hidden behind the crash bar and eliminates the need to cut off the 2 lower bumper cover mounts. The end result looks great. If you go to CTS's website there are no instructions. They do have pictures (that are in the incorrect orientation) that display different stages of the disassembly and the install but there is a lot of missing information/direction. If you do not have a lot of experience doing installs or modifications this WILL frustrate you. I think company that is expecting you to spend $700 on their merchandise would take the time to provide their customer with detailed instructions so you don't have to eventually figure things out. It seems that they are be too busy for that.

  • "Minimal trimming"

    This is not a bolt on kit. Everything you need is there to hook it up but mounting this on the front of your car will require some creative fabrication. Also the trimming of the plastics on the bumper left me with barely anything covering the front of the car. The piping actually protrudes a bit from where my fog lights used to be. But hey, maybe I just put it on wrong or something because you don't get instructions either. This kit reuses the factory intake pipe to the throttle body, which bottle necks the pipe at 2". The only impressive part is the intercooler itself, it is sturdy and well built, the rest left a bit to be desired.
