Description

CTS Turbo is excited to announce its new 3″ air intake system for the MK7 Jetta 1.4t! This is the largest intake available, and it is excellent for tuned vehicles that require the extra airflow.

The OEM air scoop works in conjunction with our airbox to seamlessly force cold air into our air intake system.  Air then flows through our 3″ high flow air filter, which utilizes an inverted cone design for maximum engine breathing. All of the components included in the CTS air intake system work flawlessly together to provide increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire power band and an aggressive race-inspired sound.

Peak power gains range from 8-10HP on an otherwise stock vehicle. They recommend disabling your Soundaktor (noise amplifier) to fully enjoy the true sound of your motor and remove excessive drone caused by the device. This intake was developed for North American 1.4 TSI engines. Other RoW applications have not been confirmed.

  • 2021 Jetta S

Assembly and installation wasn't difficult, took my time, read through the instructions a couple times, and watched a few various CAI install videos that provided several helpful details not included in the CTS instructions (unfortunately there isn't an intall vid for CTS CAI in MK7 1.4T).
I understand I was purchasing the most affordable CAI mod and I accomplished the results I desired; no regrets.

I purchased the CTS cold air intake for my 2020 Volkswagen Jetta R-line with 1.4tsi engine. They shipped it really quick. I opened the box and found all the parts I had to assemble the heat shield. Which wasn’t really a big deal. The whole unit really went together pretty fast. No problems. I didn’t even have to get or look at instructions. Although I am an electrician by trade and have a lot of automotive experience. Here are the issues I have with the unit
    1. The SAI or secondary air intake filter. The small one shown in the ad. It has an aluminum base that has a rubber o ring on it. It WILL NOT. Fit inside the valve cover opening like in my opinion should. It would make it so easy. So I had had to disconnect the factory vac line from fitting on cover. Then took a different sai filter. “ which I had to buy separate” from auto one. 10 bucks. No big deal. Then use a small hose clamp to install it.
    2. They advertise “ POWDER COATED PIPE” Well, it is. But they fail to mention it’s only about 6” long just long enough to go from inside to outside of filter enclosure. It then attaches to factory hose to go to turbo. I ended up purchasing an additional turbo entrance pipe to use instead of factory one. Now every other CAI I’ve seen for this car. ALL COME WITH EITHER A POWDER COATED PIPE WITH SILICONE COUPLING. OR A SILICONE PIPE
    3. The whole assembly is really really flimsy. Even though it attaches to factory location “ THE RUBBER INSULATORS” it’s still flimsy.
    4. They say you are supposed to use factory snorkel that goes from radiator to factory air box. Well if you do that. It pulls on one side of the enclosure and it pulls the insulator out of position and the whole thing gets twisted and out of position. So you really can’t use it.
    5. Once you have it all together PER INSTRUCTIONS. you close your hood. Then when you open it you see the whole thing kinda twisted and popped out of the insulator on far right. So basically in my opinion. This whole thing is fricken junk. It costs them maybe I mean MAYBE 25 bucks in materials to make it. Do yourself a favor. Don’t buy this overpriced poorly engineered cheap and flimsy intake I gave it one star only because I can’t leave zero stars
