  • USA CAST ALUMINUM
    IE manifolds are cast from a special self aging, self hardening alloy with especially strict requirements for chemical composition. Top of the line Japanese machining centers machine all major surfaces of the parts in one setup, ensuring perfect fit, finish, and maximum value. The aluminum manifold makes a great replacement for the stock plastic unit, which is common failure point.

    To compliment to impressive performance of the manifold design, IE engineers have taken special care to make a visually appealing piece that not only compliments, but enhances the look of any engine bay. The beautiful USA cast aluminum surface is powdercoated with a satin black finish then all surfaces and ports are machined for a impeccable contrast. The easy to clean powdercoat will ensure the manifold stays looking nice for a lifetime. The top of the manifold features a billet velocity port cover that adds a great accent of color with your choice of red, blue or black anodize at no extra cost.

  • PRECISION ENGINEERING
    Unlike other manifolds on the market that are simply welded or cast with larger plenums and made to fit on the car, IE's performance intake manifolds receive special treatment from start to finish. Our engineering department looks at each specific application and designs an intake manifold with a properly sized runner and plenum. Then we begin a series of prototyping and testing countless revisions to the design to ensure optimum performance. Our engineers use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to optimize the runner and velocity stack (bellmouth) system for proper resonance tuning and airflow. Unlike competitor manifolds, we use this process on each manifold to design the application-specific runner system to maximize airflow delivery to the cylinders.

    Once the manifold has been designed and flow has been optimized, the 3D models head over to our 3D printing studio to manufacture the initial prototype. The 3D printed manifold is fastened onto our in-house engine dynamometer and in-house chassis dynamometer for testing. To validate the plenum, runner, and bellmouth design, we test each revision in a controlled environment. Once all testing data has been collected, it is analyzed and used to determine if changes are necessary before going to production.

  • WATER/METHANOL READY
    Each runner is ready for individual water/methanol injection nozzles.  The cast and pre-drilled and threaded 1/8" NPT ports located on each runner will make installing your water/meth setup easy.  For builds not using water/methanol injection, you can simply block off the ports using the provided black plugs.

 

Installation Kit

Designed specifically for each individual application, IE intake manifold install kits are complete with all hardware necessary to install your new IE 2.0T cast intake manifold. This kit is designed for the MK6 TSI engines (chain-drive only, not Golf R), including all brackets to fasten OEM lines and components, as well as couplers to plumb the valve cover breather, throttle body pipe, and vacuum connections. We also include a barbed fitting to be used for plumbing a boost gauge, as well as a plug to block off the port if not needed. 

This is the necessary kit to complete the installation of the IE intake manifold on your MK5/MK6 2.0T TSI.  Only sold complete with all parts.

REQUIRES MANIFOLD ECU SOFTWARE

The IE 2.0T Intake Manifold is a true performance designed intake manifold and requires specific tuning to the ECU software to take advantage of the larger plenum volume, runner size, resonance tuning, and velocity stacks to gain the power increase. Simply bolting the manifold on your existing ECU tune is unlikely to gain the optimum power available. Additionally, installing the IE manifold will remove the factory plastic manifold's runner flaps. Removing the runner flaps will cause a check engine light (CEL) and possible rough cold starts, especially in cold weather. Your manifold tune must turn off the runner flap codes to remove the CEL and re-tune the warm-up maps to accommodate for the cold starts. Please ensure your ECU tuner can provide you with manifold software before purchasing.

FAQ

  • What kind of power gains will I see?
    • By simply installing the IE intake manifold and matching software, power increases from a stage 2 K04 setup are 31 ft/lbs @ 3000rpm and 20whp at 4800rpm. Setups using larger turbochargers will see greater gains.
  • What else will I need to install?
    • Along with purchasing the IE intake manifold, you will need a vehicle-specific install kit. Install kits for MK5 2.0T FSI/MK6 Golf R, MK5/MK6 2.0T TSI, B7 A4 and B8 A4 (not Flex Fuel version) are now available for purchase separately.
  • Will I need tuning for this manifold?
    • Yes, tuning is required to install this product. With the IE intake manifold, you will no longer use the runner flaps, so the coding for that system will need to be removed.
  • Are there any modifications needed to install?
    • There are a few small modifications needed for installation. In order to make the power needed, the runners had to be much larger than the factory ones, which makes for slight interference with the fuel rail. The sheet metal mount bracket on the fuel rail must be slightly modified to clear the runners. You will also need to remove the engine lift hooks, as the larger runners interfere with them as well. On TSI cars, you must slightly bend a high pressure fuel hose, which can be done by hand. Also, a strap or plier-style oil filter wrench must be used to remove the oil filter on TSI cars, as the manifold is closer than stock.
  • How does the IE intake manifold compare to others on the market?
    • The IE intake manifold was designed from the ground-up, with quick spool and performance in mind. We have spent much time dialing in the runner length, diameter, plenum size, and plenum shape. These characteristics make the IE manifold the best performing part on the market, with gains throughout the entire rpm range. The IE manifold is also much more visually appealing with a black powdercoat finish and the option of red, black, or blue anodized velocity stack cover.
  • Do I have to run water methanol with this manifold?
    • Our manifold is machined with 1/8" NPT ports to accept water meth nozzles on each runner. However, for those not looking to utilize these, the manifolds will include threaded plugs to block those ports.
  • I see that you only offer the manifold in a black powdercoat finish. Is there a benefit to the black finish?
    • The black powdercoat finish is not only visually appealing, but it is much easier to keep clean. Raw cast aluminum parts easily collect dirt and stains that are difficult to remove. The powdercoat finish does not show dirt easily and can be easily cleaned.
  • Can I run my aftermarket throttle pipe with the IE intake manifold?
    • The IE intake manifold was designed around the factory throttle pipe using the IE silicone coupler (included in install kits). If your throttle pipe fits the same as the OEM unit, then there should be no issues using it.
