Description

This MBRP® quad rear exit performance exhaust design on the Audi® S3, with its innovative design, including 3" Mandrel-bent tubing, allows for a +21% increase in the exhaust flow. This aftermarket exhaust system is carefully engineered to stay true to the Audi® S3 sporty appeal with a unique low-profile design that is perfect even for lowered cars.

The exhaust system is equipped with straight-through sound-absorption mufflers and a Helmholtz Resonator that keeps the Drone level minimal for perfect highway driving conditions. But when you kick the car into Sport mode - watch out! This exhaust system goes to a whole new level in sound.

The MBRP® Audi S3 exhaust system uses larger piping than the factory exhaust system with 3" OD piping, which then splits into a quad 2.5" design with a 3" y-pipe. The system uses T304 stainless steel. MBRP® offers a limited lifetime warranty on the Audi® S3 performance exhausts and stands behind the quality of work with excellent craftmanship and MIG welding by MBRP welders.

Exhaust Tip:

The Audi® S3 exhaust tips come in Carbon Fiber double wall with a T304 inner wall. This is really the cherry on top for this cat-back Quad Split rear exit performance exhaust system and blends in with the rear bumper. Audi® enthusiasts should consider this exhaust system based on quality and overall sound upgrade that matches the sporty design of the Audi® S3.

  • Not worth the money for now.

Recently picked this exhaust up and it's been on the car now for only about 150 miles. I will likely be removing it shortly and pursuing a refund... The short version is that the exhaust suffers from a sever valve rattle that (as of this writing in JAN22) will likely not be solved for some time (according to MBRP customer service). I feel like this exhaust may have been rushed into production without proper testing.

    The good:
    - Sound is quite amazing. The time they spent on tuning the sound was worth the effort.
    - Major parts and welds seem like they are of good quality.
    - Price point is very attractive for a valved exhaust.
    - MRBP Customer service is responsive.

    The iffy:
    - I feel like the instructions could be better. You can pull a color version from their website but the ones included in the package are black and white. Perhaps MBRP should make an installation video of the exhaust. Or maybe even take pictures of the exhaust installed on an actual car. Their instructions also seem to come from an earlier version of the exhaust as the connection from the mid pipe to the muffler is different.

    The bad:
    - Installation hardware is junk. The nuts included on the outlet pipe 2.5" clamps strip out incredibly easy and I wound up replacing them with stainless steel nuts/lock washers from a big box store. I also wouldn't trust the rear "ball clamp" that connects the mid pipe to the muffler by itself. I used some copper exhaust gasket to make sure the seal was good.
    - Not enough relief cuts in the outlet pipes on the muffler that connect to the pipes attached to the tips. They provide 2 cuts which is woefully insufficient to clamp the pipes properly. I tightened the 2.5" clamps using a 3ft 1/2" drive breaker bar as much as I could but I was still able to move them by hand. I wound up pulling the muffler back off and adding 6 more cuts to each outlet pipe on the muffler in order to get the proper clamping force. I also used more copper exhaust gasket in order to help keep the pipes in place... Not it's proper use by any means but I wanted to use everything I could. It's also extremely important to heat cycle this exhaust. I've never had it been more true with any other exhaust I've installed.
    - The valve rattle is unbearable. Poor illustrations on the installation instructions will leave you wondering if you've installed your valves correctly. My rattle has progressively gotten worse. Couple that with a response from MBRP telling me to check back in 2 to 3 months... it's the driving force for me removing this exhaust.
    - All the advertisement pictures they use when looking at the valved system are for the non-valved product. There is only one picture of the complete valved system in the lot and it's not even actually installed on a car. This is a minor complaint but if you're going to advertise a product then don't post pictures of a different exhaust... It's very misleading.
    - The exhaust hangers are mounted to the tail pipes vice the muffler. To me this makes alignment extremely difficult. Moving either "active" (i.e. valved) tail pipe will throw off the alignment of the other side as the hangers then pull and push the muffler around. It would be much better to have the hangers on the muffler vice attached to the tail pipes.
    - The valve placement of the passenger side active tail pipe is to far for the factory connector. The amount of original length of the wire leading from the car is insufficient to reach where the new valve placement is on the passenger side. In order to reach the valve I had to pull as much wire as I could from the body of the car. This would have been less of an issue had the instructions specified this... just another example why this exhaust feels rushed to me.

Hopefully I'll be able to return this exhaust. It will definitely be coming off the car.
