  • I just installed the Stage1+ and the DSG software on my S-5 - the process is fairly easy. Follow the directions on the web site after you register your cable, step by step. Loading the Engine ECU software took about 13 minutes all in. Loading the DSG software was not so easy, I needed to call Uni because the software for the DSG was not on my profile. Uni said this was because of some type of update. So they loaded it quickly and I flashed the DSG as well.

Driving impressions are about what you would expect from a shear power standpoint for a stage 1+ (no other parts changed, no pulleys, no exhaust, etc.) just the software. If I drive normal the car feels exactly the same to me, you would never know it had a tune. But as soon as you drive a little more aggressively you notice the difference. Overall everything feels just a bit more tight and responsive. I do not feel or notice anything different about the DSG transmission, its possible that it is holding the rev longer or something like that but I'm not a racer, more of an enthusiast.

I really like the Unitronic model of doing in my garage myself and not having to go make an appointment at a tuner and wait and you pay for the ability to flash back to stock if you choose. And I wish I didnt need to call the support number, but 10 minutes on the phone and everything was resolved quickly.

Now for the advertised HP gains....they dont feel to be as strong as advertised but that could be my set up being all stock I guess. Now as for the price, this was a huge investment almost 2K for both the ECU and TCU software. If it was half the price I would feel really good about the tune. Maybe over time the prices will go down.

I give the entire process 4 stars (half a star reduction for the DSG software not being totally ready to go for my car and the price point)
