Wavetrac® diffs are cutting-edge helical gear differentials designed, developed, and manufactured in the United States by Autotech Driveline.
The Wavetrac® Differential is the market's only torque biasing differential with patent-pending technology that limits wheelspin when an unloaded wheel condition occurs. During zero axle load conditions, the Wavetrac cam device acts to create an internal load, maintaining drive on the gripping wheel rather than acting like an open diff (and going nowhere!). Super strong 9310 alloy steel gears in case-hardened steel bodies.
What Does it Do:
Wavetrac® has designed a differential that eliminates the problem of loss of drive; or when one axle has zero loads to it such as in an extreme cornering situation.
How Does it work?
Precisely engineered wave profiles are placed on one side gear and its mating preload hub. As the two side gears rotate relative to each other, each wave surface climbs the other, causing them to move apart. Very quickly, this creates enough internal load within the Wavetrac® to STOP the zero axle-load condition. The zero axle-load condition is halted, and the drive torque is applied to the wheel on the ground (the gripping wheel) keeping the power down.
Why do you need it?
Do you have an Audi, BMW or Volkswagen producing significantly more power than stock? If so you would benefit from a Wavetrac unit in your car for added traction and stability under extreme conditions. On a road course, the Wavetrac unit will allow for power to be put down to the drive wheel instead of the wheel with the least amount of resistance. The same concept applies to drag racing enthusiasts where having both wheels putting down the power is the most effective way to leave the line.
Differential Oil
- Use Factory spec oil
- DO NOT USE RedLine, Shockproof® or similar gear oils.
- Avoid gear oils with limited slip additives
